Spotlight On: Parish Life Committee

The purpose of the Parish Life committee is to plan and promote fellowship and care within the congregation. The members of the committee develop and support small groups and ministries that meet the social, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of our members. They plan occasional celebrations and special events in the life of our congregation.

The committee chairs are Laura Spain and Carolyn Wiley. The Parish Life ministry teams include Care for Creation, College Students Care, Congregational Care, Epiphany Readers, Fellowship, Hospitality, Kitchen Care, Ladies’ Night Out, New Member Sponsors, Quilters, Threads of Love, Women of the ELCA, and our Youth. All teams would greatly appreciate more participation and helping hands. If you are interested, contact Laura Spain or Carolyn Wiley.

See Ann Shideler for the College Students Care; she organizes the weekly meals that are provided to the Wake Forest students. Judy Mountjoy heads up the Epiphany Readers; this is our own personal book club. Janet Blank organizes the new member sponsors; she pairs up new members with “old” members so that the new members feel welcome and know someone will show them the ropes. Kathy Knecht is in charge of the Quilters and WELCA; you have seen their beautiful work! The Threads of Love team is headed up by Sue Pester. They are currently working on making baby doll blankets for our EECC classrooms.

Other team leads are Schuyler Darstein, Lee Ann Meckley, Jeanie Saphar, Connie Queen, Jennie Hinshaw, Emily Phillips and Charlotte Disher. Please reach out to any of our ministry team leads to be part of our Parish Life Community. Your time and energy will be appreciated.
