Council Update (June)

May was an exciting time for our congregation. With great enthusiasm we welcomed Pastor Russell Peek on May 20th, Pentecost Sunday. On Trinity Sunday, May 27, we focused on Lutheran Services of the Carolinas. Betty Kuhn, Chief Development Officer of LSC, provided an interesting temple talk. The choir celebrated the day with a magnificent anthem, In The Year That King Uzziah Died.

The excitement continues in June as we look forward to the onset of summer. Join us for Senior Sunday on June 3 when we celebrate our High School Seniors’ graduation. They will receive books signed by congregational members and quilts lovingly made by The Epiphany Quilters.

The Pennington-Pensby Properties Planning Ministry Team (PPPPM Team) has been meeting frequently to discuss the future of the rental properties. They are giving prayerful consideration to feedback and data provided by members of the congregation over the past few months. The council will communicate with the congregation in June regarding the time line for presentation of the team’s results and recommendations.

Your council continues to concentrate on the identified Key Areas of Focus for this year. An initial list of potential members for the Strategic Planning Team has been proposed. Please let us know if you are interested or can recommend someone for the team. We have begun a “Spot Light On” section for the monthly STAR. Outreach was the first area to be highlighted and continues to be an area of focus for the council. Interaction between EECC and the congregation is good; opportunities for joint gatherings are ongoing and well publicized.

With gratitude we look forward to Vacation Bible School, July 15 to 19, and Rally Day on September 9, when we will also celebrate “God’s Work. Our Hands.” Sunday.

God’s Peace,

Your Congregation Council
